Some people like to hang a painting on the wall and some people like lots of paint on their walls. Then there are those that want to have a painting painted on their entire wall. It is great when a customer likes what you do so much that they want you to paint their walls. The person that owns this house lives in Kendall, but she loves to do two things: 1) Go to the beach and 2) Entertain. Her request was to have the walls in her atrium painted so that when she looks out through the French doors, she can imagine that she has a waterfront home. In the back of the house, she has a pool. What better way to entertain the guests than by having them look at a chiki hut bar instead of a blank wall. She has had a wood counter installed on that wall and her guests can now have a place to put their drinks while outdoors. You can transform any wall with a brush and some paint.

Where's Willy?
Many have been asking me, "Where's Willy?". He, and the rest of his friends, are now all over downtown South Miami. Willy is standing tall at the corner of 57th Avenue and Sunset Drive in front of Lanes' and across from Barnes and Nobles. You can't miss him and his bright red car.
Willy is waiting to pose with you, as he did with my 84 year old mother pictured above.Take a stroll and enjoy these colorful manatees.

Thank You, ArtistaMundo!
The world of art can't be limited to a studio or a gallery. As an artist, we need to take advantage of the internet and the way it allows us to share our work with the world. When I decided to go "technical" after Debra Cortese's workshop, my friend, Elizabet Chacon, told me she saw an article in the Miami Herald about a web page that is international. In addition to that, it was free. The web page was ArtistaMundo. All artists need a break with expenses while spending on the materials needed to create so I jumped at the opportunity. To my great surprise, I was contacted recently by Alexandra Figueredo, Founder/Vice President, of ArtistaMundo. She had noticed my art and wanted to have me as the featured artist this month. What an honor!! Below is the article as written on the web page. Clicking on ArtistaMundo will take you to the home page.
Thank you Alexandra and ArtistaMundo.

Hot or Cold?
"Oh, the weather outside is frightful". That description can apply to the northern states in January or Miami in August. How many of you have heard family and friends say, "How can you live in Florida with all of that heat and humidity?" The answer to that is simple.........we have ways!

| "Water's Edge" - 8 X 8 - Oil on Canvas |
In the middle of winter, even with the appropriate clothing, you can still freeze when you walk outdoors in the north. Here in Miami, we go outside with as little as possible, flip flops or bare feet, sit in the shade ,and enjoy the sea breezes. If that does not do the trick, we jump in a refreshing pool or go to the nearest beach. The beach is so much more than just a cooling off place. We can look up at the beautiful blue sky because, after all, this is the sunshine state. The cloud formations are a work of art in themselves and, even if you don't paint them like I do, they still stir up your imagination wondering what could they be and what will they become in the next few minutes. The waves rolling in can be soothing and take away the stresses of the day. If all of that were not enough, you walk on the waters edge breathing in the ions that help relieve stress, increase vitality, strengthen the immune system and so much more; while allowing your feet to get a nice scrub from the sand.
The next time you are asked why we put up with the heat, the humidity and those dreadful hurricanes...............remember this painting and the words that follow before you respond.
Enjoy the hot days of summer!

Wynwood Walls
Living in Miami, you can attend an art walk almost every weekend in different parts of town. Living on the south end, I try to stay busy with the ones closest to me. Today I was able to see some art in the Wynwood area (north end) while on a field trip with the Lowe Museum Docents.
Most people are familiar with graffiti art, but the Wynwood Walls are "Miami’s epicenter for cutting-edge street art". Artists from Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States have created outdoor murals on the warehouse walls. These walls and buildings are located in the area between 2nd and 5th Avenues and NW 22nd and 28th Streets. Goldman Properties, one of the major property owners in Wynwood, has made these walls available.
You can see these walls on the monthly second Saturdays gallery walk at the Wynwood Art District which attracts thousands of visitors; or maybe by having lunch or dinner at many of the newly opened restaurants like the Wynwood Kitchen and Bar.
I want to thank Marilyn Berens for planning our trip and Joseph Furst, from Goldman Properties, for a very informative and fun tour of these walls. I will definitely return and share this experience with friends and family.
