Wynwood Walls

Living in Miami, you can attend an art walk almost every weekend in different parts of town. Living on the south end, I try to stay busy with the ones closest to me. Today I was able to see some art in the Wynwood area (north end)  while on a field trip with the Lowe Museum Docents.

Most people are familiar with graffiti art, but the Wynwood Walls are  "Miami’s epicenter for cutting-edge street art". Artists from Asia, Europe, Latin America and the United States have created outdoor murals on the warehouse walls. These walls and buildings are located in the area between 2nd and 5th Avenues and NW 22nd and 28th Streets. Goldman Properties, one of the major property owners in Wynwood, has made these walls available.

You can see these walls on the monthly second Saturdays gallery walk at the Wynwood Art District  which attracts thousands of visitors; or maybe by having lunch or dinner at many of the newly opened restaurants like the Wynwood Kitchen and Bar.

I want to thank Marilyn Berens for planning our trip and Joseph Furst, from Goldman Properties, for a very informative and fun tour of these walls. I will definitely return and share this experience with friends and family.
